Printing in Asia (Hong Kong Campus)

Overview

Follow the steps below to connect to printers at the Hong Kong campus.

Before starting, make sure you are connected to the uchicago-secure Wi-Fi network.

Available Printers

  • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER → 10.190.73.15
  • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER2 → 10.190.73.14

Windows Setup

  1. Connect to the uchicago-secure Wi-Fi network.
  2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.

  3. Enter the following and click OK:

    \\busckprt01.ad.uchicago.edu
  4. When prompted, enter your credentials:
    • Username: adlocal\CNetID
    • Password: your CNet password
  5. Double-click one of the following printers:
    • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER
    • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER2
  6. The printer will install automatically and be available in your applications.

Mac Setup (Manual Configuration)

Method A – Using IP (LPD)

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Go to Printers & Scanners.
  3. Click the + (Add Printer) button.
  4. Select the IP tab.
  5. Configure the following:
    • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon – LPD
    • Address:
      • 10.190.73.15 → HK_RESOURCE_CENTER
      • 10.190.73.14 → HK_RESOURCE_CENTER2
    • Queue: (leave blank)
  6. Set the Name:
    • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER (for Printer 1)
    • HK_RESOURCE_CENTER2 (for Printer 2)
  7. Leave Location blank.
  8. Under Use, select Choose Software and pick a generic PostScript printer driver.
  9. Click Add, then click OK to complete setup.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure you are connected to uchicago-secure (not guest Wi-Fi)
  • Double-check your credentials include adlocal\ if prompted
  • If the printer does not appear, try re-adding it or restarting your computer
