Matlab Sign in/Sign out and Download instructions

Summary

This article provides instructions on how to sign out/sign into Matlab if one is having license issues, as well as how to download the newest Matlab software.

Matlab Information

If you are getting a message that your license is expiring, please try deactivating and reactivating Matlab. Otherwise, if you are looking to download/install Matlab, click here to jump to those instructions.

 

  1. Deactivate your Matlab license

  2. Click Yes if prompted to allow the app to make changes to your deviceUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Select DeactivateUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Click Yes when prompted to confirm:

  6. Close Matlab, go to your Start menu, and click Activate Matlab...Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. Click Yes if prompted to allow the app to make changes to your device

  8. Enter your Booth email address (staff/faculty use firstname.lastname@chicagobooth.edu)

  9. Login with your CNetID and Password as promptedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  10. Select the license and click Next

  11. Click Next
  12. Click Activate
  13. Click Close
  14. Open Matlab
     

If you are running Matlab on a Mac, follow these instructions

  1. Quit Matlab
  2. Go to the Applications folder. Right- or control click on the Matlab application, and click Show Package Contents.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Double click the Deactivate application. There’s only one license to deactivate, and it says “Academic Headcount” or something similar. Click that, and deauthorize. After it’s done, you should have the option to quit
  4. In that same folder, there’s an Activate application. Put in your CNet@uchicago.edu email address, and go through the SSO process. It’ll ask you what license to activateUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Click Next
  6. Click Activate
  7. Click Close

Start Matlab again. You may be prompted to login again, but once you've done so, you will be correctly licensed.

If you are looking to download/install the latest version of Matlab:

  1. Go to this site
  2. Click Sign in to get startedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  3. Enter either your Booth email address (staff/faculty, use firstname.lastname@chicagobooth.edu)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Login with your CNetID and Password
  5. Click Get Started

  6. In the upper-right, click Install MATLAB

  7. Click Download for Windows to download Matlab
