Tips for Duo/Two-Factor Authentication

This article provides tips for users on Duo Mobile/Two-Factor Authentication. This information can also apply to most other Two-Factor systems that use an app (such as Wharton's WRDS system).

What to do if you lose your phone?

These tips are what you should use before you lose your phone. If you have already lost your phone, and don't have another device registered nor do you have your 10 one-time passcodes accessible, you will need to contact IT Services at 773.702.5800.

1. Print or save in a secure location your 10 one-time use passcodes. You can print them by:
   1. Login to https://2fa.uchicago.edu
   2. Click on "Go to Two-Factor..."
       
   3. Click on "Print One-Time Passcodes"
       
2. Register a tablet that you can use to get past Duo.
   1. Login to https://2fa.uchicago.edu
   2. Click on "Go to Two-Factor..."
   3. Click on "Register a Device"
   4. Follow the on screen prompts to register your device.
