Zoom is a tool that provides easy to use audio and high-definition video capabilities for up to 300 participants at the same time. It is available anytime anywhere for your school-related activities.

Zoom for students is available at https://uchicago.zoom.us/. Your UserName is your CNetID. The Password is the password that you defined during your initial visit to the Zoom site.

 

Q: How do I create a Booth-branded Zoom background?

A: Enter your first and last name on the Zoom Background builder and then add the image to your Zoom account.

 

Q: What is Zoom?

A: Zoom video conferencing is an integrated solution for your audio and video collaboration needs. Zoom allows you to quickly schedule and hold meetings and easily share information through any computer or mobile device, all over high-definition video. It is designed to easily help you collaborate with others on your school-related activities. 

 

Q: How do I access Zoom?

A: All active Booth students are provided with Zoom accounts when they start school.  You do not need to request an account.   

Zoom for students is available at https://uchicago.zoom.us/. Your UserName is your CNetID and Password.

 

Q: Do I need any additional devices to use Zoom?

A: No additional devices are required to use Zoom.  Zoom uses the camera, microphone, and speakers that are connected to your device. 

 

Q: What devices are supported by Zoom?

A: Zoom can be used on Windows, Mac, Apple and Android devices.

 

Q: Can I use Zoom on my phone?

A: Yes, Zoom can be used on Apple and Android devices. Go to the Apple iStore or Goggle Play Store to search for and download the Zoom app to your mobile device.  

 

Q: What features / functionality are included with Zoom?

A: Meetings - Start an impromptu meeting with one click in your personal meeting room, or schedule a meeting with a few short steps using the Zoom Productivity Tools.  Invitations will include a link that puts attendees directly into the meeting.

Once in a meeting you can share anything on your desktop, pass control to a participant, use whiteboard annotations, group polling or the in-meeting chat functionality.

Integrated audio is available with voice over computer - Once inside the meeting, hosts and participants simply click on the “connect with computer” link to use voice over computer. 

 

Q: How many participants can I include in my Zoom meeting?

A: Zoom meetings can have up to 300 participants, including the host.

 

Q: Can I set an external person as an alternate host?

A: You can only set an external person as an alternate host after the meeting has started. Internal University users can be set as an alternate host when scheduling the meeting, however.
