In light of recent changes to alumni email services, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions to provide you with quick and helpful answers. If you can't find what you're looking for, please contact Booth-IT-Information@chicagobooth.edu for further assistance.
What are the changes to alumni email services?
To maintain connections to the Chicago Booth community, each graduating student will be provided with an email account under the alumni.chicagobooth.edu domain.
If you are graduating in Spring 2024 or later, a new Gmail mailbox with an @alumni.chicagobooth.edu address will be provisioned for you around the time you graduate. Each account has up to 5GB of storage space. To maintain your Booth alumni email address and prevent email data loss, you need to login to the account at least once every 12 months or it will be deleted. Following account deactivation after 12 months of inactivity, you will have the option to request another @alumni.chicagobooth.edu account - however, you will not be able to recover emails in your previous alumni email account.
How do I access my new alumni email account?
An email with access details will be sent to your @chicagobooth.edu student email address (O365) once the Booth alumni account is ready.
To access your new @alumni.chicagobooth.edu alumni email account after it is provisioned, navigate to http://gmail.chicagobooth.edu and use your CNetID and password to log in.
Can I access my student email and alumni email accounts at the same time? If so, for how long?
During the 2 quarters and 45 days after you graduate, you can access both email accounts.
When will my Booth student email account be terminated?
Your @chicagobooth.edu student email account in Microsoft O365 will be deprovisioned 2 quarters and 45 days after you graduate. After it is deprovisioned, you will no longer be able to access and retrieve emails in your student account.
We recommend that you forward select messages from your student email to your alumni account or to another personal email account. You can also archive emails from your O365 account to a file. For more information and helpful tips, please see the Data Migration FAQ.
Once you're an alum, you'll access resources available to you via the Alumni Resources page. For users with access to WRDS, this access is removed at graduation.
What about my other Google, Microsoft, and Box services?
Your student Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Box accounts will be disabled at 2 quarters and 45 days after your graduation quarter end date. After this date, you will not be able to access these cloud storage and collaboration platforms. As such, you have 2 quarters and 45 days following your graduation quarter end date to transition your data out of these platforms. What are the important transition dates?
Here is a brief summary of the graduating student email transition timeline to help you plan accordingly. Please keep these dates in mind and consult the current Booth Academic Calendar to help ensure a smooth transition from Booth to your next endeavor.

Right after the graduation quarter ends, you will be granted access to specified alumni resources.

Your access to iBid will be disabled 30 days after the graduation quarter ends.

1 quarter and 2 weeks after graduation |
Your access to Booth intranet and student-facing apps are disabled. You can still access your student email (O365) account. You will receive a reminder email at your Booth student email account two weeks prior to this date.

2 quarters and 45 days after graduation
|
Your student email account is deprovisioned. You will not be able to access your student emails after this date. You will receive a reminder email 4 weeks prior to this date at your Booth student email account, and another reminder 1 week before your student email account is deprovisioned.
Access to Google Workspace, Microsoft OneDrive, and Box accounts will also be disabled after this date.

The below table lists the specific date or date range when access will be changed for recent graduating classes. As users are processed in batches, your access may not be disabled on the exact date; however, please definitively plan your transition by the date provided below.
