Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) is more than just a collaborative suite consisting of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, and Teams. You can access each application from the Microsoft 365 Portal.
Microsoft 365 collaboration suite includes these additional applications:
- Bookings
Microsoft Bookings is an online and mobile app for those who provide services to customers on an appointment basis. For example, Bookings may be used to book office hours.
- Delve
Use Delve to manage your Microsoft 365 profile and discover and organize your information across Microsoft 365. Delve never changes any permissions, so you'll only see documents that you already have access to. Other people will not see your private documents.
- Forms
Microsoft Forms allows you to create customized quizzes, surveys, questionnaires, registrations, and more quickly and easily. When you create a quiz or form, you can invite others to respond to it using any web browser, even on mobile devices. As results are submitted, you can use built-in analytics to evaluate responses. Form data, such as quiz results, can be easily exported to Excel for additional analysis or grading.
- Planner
Planner makes it easy to create new project plans, organize and assign tasks, share files, chat with others, and receive updates on projects. Its visual design helps foster teamwork and collaboration.
- PowerApps
PowerApps is a service for building and using custom business apps that connect to your data and work across the web and mobile - without the time and expense of custom software development.
- Power Automate
Microsoft Flow is a service for automating workflows across a growing number of cloud applications without coding.
- Project
Microsoft Project is a collaborative tool that helps individuals and groups manage their project work. The application helps individuals with project planning and scheduling. You can create and manage task lists and create visual representations of work in process using GANT Charts. It has reporting capabilities that can track progress on your projects, resources, programs, and portfolios.
Note: Microsoft Project is not covered under the UChicago Microsoft Agreement as a free application. To obtain a license, contact IT Services' Licensing team at licensing@uchicago.edu. Also note, in 2024, Project for the web became the new Microsoft Planner. The new Microsoft Planner will combine the functionality of Planner, To-do, and Project on the web.
- SharePoint Online
SharePoint Online is a collaborative app that allows you to share and manage content, knowledge, and applications. It supplies a quick tool to find information and seamlessly collaborate with others. SharePoint allows you to build intranet websites, create web pages, document libraries, and create lists. It helps you to manage your daily routine with workflows, forms, and lists.
Note: SharePoint Online may only be used with websites that have been created from Office 365 Groups, such as those that are created with a new Microsoft Team. To request a new SharePoint Online site or modify an existing site, please submit the SharePoint Online Account request form.
- Stream
Microsoft Stream channels and videos can be added as a tab in Microsoft Teams, making it easy for your team to collaborate using video.
- Sway
Sway provides the ability to easily compile text, images, videos, and other content in an interactive online format. You can apply designer-created layouts and color schemes, or let Sway suggest design elements that match your content. Search and import relevant content from other sources, and share your completed Sways on the web.
- To-Do
Microsoft To-Do is a management app that makes it easy to plan and manage your day. Microsoft To-Do delivers a personal and intuitive way to help people stay organized.
- Visio
Visio helps you create diagrams and flowcharts. The web version allows you to collaborate on the same file in real time. Built-in templates and stencils are included so you don't have to design from scratch.
Note: Visio requires a separate license under the UChicago Microsoft Agreement. Contact IT Services Licensing at licensing@uchicago.edu to acquire Visio.
- Yammer
